Spicy Bitters #9 (2 oz)

$16.00

Ah, Spicy Bitters #9! These bitters were inspired by watching our friend Mikayla try to spice up some Bloody Marys for some picky customers. “It needs more spice!” they kept exclaiming — right up to the point they said, “Now it just tastes like Louisiana hot sauce.” We decided then and there that bartenders need something to spice up drinks that didn’t lean too much on any one pepper.

We take 8 different types of peppers, add some mace (the dried lacy coating around a nutmeg seed), and let everything infuse for about a month. The result is a complex heat that starts strong, finishes well, yet doesn’t burn off your face or overtake the drink’s other ingredients.

And to honor our bartender friend’s trials and triumphs behind the stick, we ship every 20th bottle with a special “Mikayla’s Spicy Bitters” label. Here’s to you, Mikayla!

This product contain no dyes, artificial flavorings, or artificial preservatives.

Gingerbread Flip

Ingredients

  • 1 egg

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 2 tbsp Winter Holiday Simple Syrup #1 — Gingerbread

  • Nutmeg

  • Ice

  • Coupe glass, or a  Nick & Nora glass

Preparation

  1. Add ice to glass, top with water. Set aside to chill.

  2. Add egg and Winter Holiday Syrup #1 — Gingerbread to shaker.

  3. Shake for up to one minute.

  4. Add bourbon and fill shaker to the top with ice.

  5. Shake again for one minute.

  6. Empty glass of ice and water.

  7. Strain cocktail into glass. Sprinkle with nutmeg.

Tip: To help emulsify the egg and alcohol, add a small spring (say, taken from a Hawthorne strainer) to the shaker tins. The extra noise is a small price to pay for foamy, creamy results.
